There are souls in purgatory who need our prayers.
Purgatory is real. The souls are not able to pray for themselves. We need to say prayers for the souls in purgatory so they can be cleansed and be in a better position to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven.
Since we are all imperfect human beings and we have used free will to determine our outcomes here on earth, none of us are perfect. We all need to be cleansed before we are worthy to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Purgatory does exist, and there is mention of it in the Bible: Revelation 21:27. In fact, there are several mentions of the need to be cleansed before one is able to see God: Daniel 12:2, Matthew 12:32, 1 Corinthians 3:13-15, 2 Timothy 1:16-18, Hebrews 12:14, Hebrews 12:22-23, 1 Peter 4:6 and Revelation 21:10, 27. They all describe purgatory with the description of the need for purification, prayers for the dead, Christ’s preaching to the dead, and how nothing unclean will see God.
I’m sure your are asking yourself: Why can’t the souls in purgatory pray for their own healing? Honestly, they can’t. They are dependent on us to pray for them to receive the cleansing and blessings that they need to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
We here on earth are also dependent on others to pray for us, including those in Heaven, the Communion of Saints, and the souls that we prayed for who have entered the Kingdom of Heaven. So, in effect, those souls in purgatory that we prayed for will in turn pray for us from heaven before we die. It’s reciprocal. It’s a wonderful investment in yourself and others!
Here are a few of my favorite prayers to pray for the poor souls in purgatory:
O Lord, who art ever merciful and bounteous with Thy gifts, look down upon the suffering souls in purgatory. Remember not their offenses and negligences, but be mindful of Thy loving mercy, which is from all eternity. Cleanse them of their sins and fulfill their ardent desires that they may be made worthy to behold Thee face to face in Thy glory. May they soon be united with Thee and hear those blessed words which will call them to their heavenly home: “Come, blessed of My Father, take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.”
Heavenly Father, in union with the merits of Jesus and Mary, I offer to You for the sake of the poor souls all the satisfactory value of my works during life, as well as all that will be done for me after death. I give You my all through the hands of the Immaculate Virgin Mary that she may set free whatever souls she pleases, according to her heavenly wisdom and mother’s love for them. Receive this offering, O God, and grant me in return an increase of Your grace. Amen.
Most of us are familiar with this prayer from St. Gertrude The Great:
Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the masses said throughout the world today, for all the holy souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
I’ve placed these prayers for the souls in purgatory as a quick reference on this page. Our Blessed Mother is a most powerful intercessor, and the rosary is the best way to talk to her and to her Son, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Why I am doing this:
Certainly, you are wondering why I placed this site up on the internet. Well, I did it for two reasons.
Most importantly, I created this site is because wanted to share my personal experiences with you. These personal experiences are based upon visits from souls in purgatory who asked me to help them. I have already discussed these visits with a few Catholic theologians, and a Catholic Priest before taking this step to share my experiences with you. I will be sharing these experiences with you in my posts.
Please read my experiences of my visitors of souls in purgatory:
As a double cancer survivor, I deal with the reality of heaven, hell, and purgatory on a daily basis. I want to share with you my experiences of having a saint choose me as a friend, and my continual visits with souls in purgatory. The majority of the souls I’ve never met. There are a handful of souls that I recognized immediately. For some of these souls, I needed a few months to determine who they were, as their faces looked different from what I remembered. I also believe that I was given a glimpse of hell, and I never want to spend a minute there!
I will be posting these in the “Purgatory Blog” section in the top menu bar. They will not be posted all at the same time, but rather, over a period of several months.
We need to pray for the poor souls in purgatory since they have no one to pray for them. I want to spread the word. I want to evangelize.
Please share this site with your family and friends. Thank you!
